Markets Galore

We started selling at fetes and markets in mid march. We had high hopes and expectations and honestly thought we would sell out every time, but we didn’t. We had so many cookies left over from our first market that we had to give away the remaining to friends.

But as we continued on with our second, third, fourth and now fifth market, the best thing we have gained is learning from our experiences.

Each time we do a market we learn which shapes are most popular, which colours are striking, who our target audience is and what can we do differently next time.

One of our biggest changes is creating gift jars with an assortment of cookies inside for all occasions. Many people commented that the cookies were “too pretty or nice to eat,” which was such a great compliment, so we thought if they were too pretty to eat for customers to eat themselves then wouldn’t it be a great idea to give them as gifts!
The jars will definitely be a permanent addition to our range.

Markets are also a great way to get our name put there and meet new people and other market stall holders and getting to share advice and experiences with each other.

Gingerbread corner will continue to do markets at this stage and we will give updates on when our next one will be.

New Gluten Free Cookies

A customer who found us thru Google was having her wedding in April and ordered approximately 60 large gingerbread men and women with a request for each of the guests names to be written on their stomachs (a great idea to use them as place settings), however the challenge that we had was some of them had to be gluten-free. Gingerbread Corner saw this as a great opportunity to expand and bring in a new range of cookies catered to those who are not able to have gluten and for those who preferred an alternative to gingerbread. Thus vanilla flavoured gluten-free cookies are now available at Gingerbread Corner. They will come in all the same designs as our gingerbread cookies but with slightly different pricing. If you have an inquiry about our new range please email us at gingerbread.corner@gmail.com

Fundraiser and Birthday Party

A new customer was having a birthday party and requested for 150 of our gingerbread girls however this was no ordinary birthday party, it was also a fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. All 150 gingerbread cookie girls were decorated with pink dresses to support the organisation. What a great and effective way to hold a fundraiser!

She made a cake to match and placed our cookies as the centrepiece.

These are available for order.

Wedding 2011

The wedding that gave us the idea to start Gingerbread Corner will be on next weekend, so it was time to get cracking on the wedding range. It was decided by the bride and groom to make letters and envelopes so that they could give it a personal touch and handwrite messages to all their guests.

With a few helpers to roll out the dough and decorate, the cookies were finished in just 2 days! That’s 380 gingerbread cookies in 48 hrs! I have to say I was pretty proud of us and everyone that helped. I would like to say a big thank you to “T” who stayed all Saturday to help us decorate and put the finishing touches on the cookies.

These will be under our wedding range and available for order.

Check out the final results!

Birthday Party

A new customer was having a birthday party for her young son and required a total of 40 gingerbread cookies, 20 shaped like trucks and 20 shaped like cars.

We used red, white, black and a darker green for the colour scheme. These will now be part of our automobile range, something for the boys!
